Shirley Jacqueline Miller Carroll

Shirley Jacqueline Miller Carroll, age 82, of Asheboro passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at Randolph Health. Mrs. Carroll was born in High Point, NC on April 24, 1935 to Allen and Maleta Plummer Miller. She was formerly employed as an Executive Secretary with United Way of High Point, Executive Director of the American Red Cross of High Point/Thomasville, and Financial Officer with K&D Manufacturing, owners Kathy Godshalk and Dale Godshalk of Texas. She spearheaded the community fundraisers for the Food Bank of Brunswick County. In her latter years, Shirley was employed with JCPenney of Asheboro and her fellow co-workers and friends to this day still gather at the local K&W Cafeteria for their monthly gathering. She developed the accounting format for Greensboro Plumbing & Heating where practices are still used today. Shirley's passion in life was community service. In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Roy E. Carroll. She delighted in all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed the beach, writing, music, and NC State/UNC Athletics. Shirley was an avid Carolina Panthers fan to the end. She is survived by her daughter, Jacquilyn "Jayn" Prater and husband Garry of Asheboro; son, Jay A. Carroll of Greensboro; grandchildren, Paul Gregory Davis and wife Kathryn of Asheboro, Jay A. Carroll II of and wife Annie Charlotte, Ivey Jae Carroll of Raleigh, Jacquilyn Dianne Davis of Asheboro; great grandchildren, Scarlett Isabella Davis of Asheboro, Holden Carroll, Shepard Carroll, and Katie Carroll all of Charlotte; and her faithful companion, Mitzi. A graveside service will be held on Friday, February 23, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Floral Garden Park Cemetery, 1730 West English Road in High Point. Memorials may be made to the Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped, State Library of North Carolina, 1841 Capital Blvd., Raleigh, NC 27635-0001.
