Dr. Earlie R. Hill, Jr., age 87, of Asheboro died Friday, February 23, 2018 at Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro.

Dr. Hill, was born August 13, 1930 in Lansdale, PA, the son of Earlie R. and Elsie Frey Hill and lived most of his life in Randolph County, NC.  He was a 1948 graduate of Asheboro High School and was awarded a scholarship to Logan Chiropractic College in St. Louis, MO graduating in 1951. After college, he entered the U.S. Army during the Korean War serving in the medical division as an x-ray technician at Camp Polk, LA.  Dr. Hill started his chiropractic practice in Asheboro in April 1955 and was also a member of the NC Chiropractic Association.

In his practice, he used a hands on technique along with applied Kinesiology. He and his wife Barbara who was his secretary-receptionist thoroughly enjoyed working as a team with many patients becoming lifelong friends and seemed like family.

Dr. Hill was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Asheboro where he enjoyed singing in the choir, ushering, and serving on various committees. He was a member of the Christian Love Sunday School Class and served as one of the teachers.   

Civic work was a joy to Dr. Hill, having been in the North Asheboro Lions Club, Asheboro Jaycees, and the Kiwanis Club for over 30 years, serving as a song leader. 

Sports was an enjoyable part of his life, especially the Boston Red Socks and golf.  He was a charter member of Pinewood Country Club and enjoyed his golfing friends.  During his golfing days, he recorded three “Holes in One”.  Some of his most enjoyable days were attending the Masters golf tournament with his wife and spending time at Badin Lake.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Barbara Barger Hill; daughter, Linda Hill Wilkes and her husband Wesley of Greensboro and son, Lee Thomas Hill and wife Tacey of Asheboro; Grandchildren, Ashley Anne Wilkes of Baltimore, MD and Jordan Thomas Hill of Asheboro; brother, James N. Hill of Newark, OH.

The family will receive friends Monday, February 26, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC.  A memorial service will be held Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at 2:00 PM at First United Methodist Church, 224 North Fayetteville Street, Asheboro with Rev. Lynda Ferguson and Dr. Don Haynes officiating.  Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.

A special “Thank You” to all those who have helped him and his loving family during his illness, especially Lanette and Marcie and his church family.
