Asheboro, NC Ethel Cook Smith, age 84, of 4881 Reeder Rd., Asheboro died Sunday, April 1, 2001 at Randolph Hospital, Asheboro. Mrs. Smith attended the Browers Wesleyan Church in Asheboro. A native of Dillon County, SC she was the widow of Hickman Smith who died in 1969. She was retired from Dixie Furniture Co. in Asheboro. Mrs. Smith was the daughter to the late Gaston and the late Annie (Smith) Cook. She is survived by four sons:J.T. Smith of Asheboro, NC, Theo Smith of Mebane, NC, Bill Smith of Asheboro, NC, Charlie Smith of Randleman, NC, four daughters:Ethel Jane Elliott of Nichols, SC, Annie Saunders of Asheboro, NC, Janie Jones of Lakeland, FL, Ella Jacobs of Asheboro, NC, 15 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, brother, Gibson Cook of Dillon, SC, two sisters, Josephine Mann of Haw River, NC and Christine Stevens of Fork, SC The funeral will be Wednesday at 2:00 PM at Cook Funeral Home Chapel. Lakeview with Rev. Rodney Purcell and Rev. Bruce Elliott officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Lakeview, SC. The family will receive friends on Monday from 7 to9 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro and on Tuesday from 7 to 9 PM at Cook Funeral Home in Lakeview, SC.
