Rev. James Neal Biggers

James Neal Biggers, Sr., 87, of Asheboro died on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at Cross Road Retirement Community.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at First Presbyterian Church in Asheboro, with the Rev. Brian Gawf officiating. Visitation will follow the service in the church's Westminster Hall.

The retired Rev. Biggers was born in Wesley Chapel, NC in 1931, the son of the late John Frank Biggers, Sr. and Myrtle Mae Moore Biggers.  The family later moved to Charlotte, NC where he graduated from Central High School in 1949. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War in North Africa, and later served as a Chaplain in the Civil Air Patrol. In 1960 he graduated from Erskine Seminary and then served a number of churches throughout South Carolina, West Virginia, and North Carolina. His hobbies included maintaining his ham radio license, private pilot license, traveling abroad and spending time at Lake Tillery.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Jacqueline Comer Biggers; as well as his brothers: John Biggers, Allen Biggers, Dwight Biggers, Frank Biggers and sisters: Grace Hawfield, Isabel Howey, Cleo Starnes, Willene Howey, Mary Francis Biggers, and Myrtle May Winchester.

Survivors include his son Neal Biggers and his husband David Motz of Evansville IN, son Kent Biggers and his wife Yaoying Xu of Midlothian VA, daughter Alice Biggers Smith and her husband Jim Smith of Asheboro; grandchildren Katie Kersten, Kyle Biggers, Kristen Biggers of Midlothian VA, Natalie Smith and Eric Smith both of Asheboro NC; and many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
