Seavy Allen Bennett, age 78, of Sophia passed away on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at Randolph Hospice House.

Mr. Bennett was born in Guilford County on September 20, 1940 to Charles Seavy and Juanita Elizabeth Montgomery Bennett and was a graduate of High Point High School. Allen was employed in the newspaper industry for 46 years. He formerly worked as a pressman with the Courier-Tribune, High Point Enterprise, Thomasville Times, and Burlington Times-News, and was retired from the Greensboro News & Record. Allen was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. In addition to his parents, Allen was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Gary Bennett. Allen was an accomplished athlete in many sports. He was a skilled carpenter and a jack of all trades. He was a loving husband, father, and PopPop.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Barbara Bingham Bennett; children, Allen Keith (Lorilynn) Bennett of High Point, Susan Bennett (Craig) Edwards of Wilmington, Jann Bennett of Graham, Jason (Carrie) Bennett of Haw River, Gary Bennett (Beth Nichols) of Columbia, SC, and Beth Bennett of Graham; grandchildren, James (Erin West) Bennett, David (April Myers) Ball, Sandra Bennett, Andy (Melissa Profit) Crosier, Austin Small, Logan Ingram, Davis Ingram, Emma Bennett, Parker Young, Lilly Bennett, Seavy Bennett, Marisa Mier Y Teran, Will Bennett, Kaitlyn Harmon, Nolan Bennett, Jackson Bennett, Abbie Ingram, Max Lockamy, and Finley Bennett; great grandchildren, Brooks Bennett, Henry Bennett, Layla Ball, and Corbin Crosier; brother, Charles Boyce (Karen) Bennett of San Diego, CA; several nieces and nephews and extended family.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at 3:00 pm at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro with Sam Howard officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
