Rev. Thurman Reid Williams, Jr.

Rev. Thurman Reid Williams, Jr., age 78, of Franklinville, NC went home to be with his Lord, Friday, March 22, 2019 at Randolph Hospice House, Asheboro.

Thurman was born August 29, 1940 the son of Thurman R. and Queen Esther Latham Williams.

Thurman was a native of Grady, Alabama and a long-time minister. He pastored several churches in Randolph and Montgomery Counties including: Russell's Grove Baptist, Mountain of Faith Christian Church, Grace Memorial, and Love of God Ministries. Also, Lively Stones Baptist Church in Pelham, NC, where he served as a reservist and Chaplain for the Caswell County Sheriff's office, Derby Baptist Church, Derby, NC and Putnam Baptist Church, Putnam, NC. When he was younger, he worked at B.B. Walker Shoes in Asheboro. In addition to his parents, Thurman is preceded in death by his first wife: Frances Hill Williams and siblings: Madelle "Sallie" Galloway, J.B. Williams and Robert Williams.

He is survived by his wife: Paula Pugh Williams, and her 5 children; his children - sons: Thurman R. "Terry" Williams, III (Jodi) of Seagrove, NC; Mike Williams (Jean) of Seagrove, NC; daughters: Donna W. Hayes (Mike) of Asheboro, NC; Arlene W. Hinson (Kevin) of Troy, NC, 28 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; sisters: Mary Edwards of Asheboro, Alice Luther of Asheboro, NC; Patricia Miller of Troy, NC; and Kay Luck of Asheboro, NC,

The family will receive friends Sunday, March 24, 2019 from 6 - 8 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. The funeral will be Monday at 2:00 PM at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, 7811 Pisgah Covered Bridge Rd., Asheboro with Pastor Junior Dawkins, Rev. Faron Overton and Rev. Brian Auman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
