Duane Spencer King

Duane Spencer King, age 88, of Greensboro passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital.

Mr. King was born in Asheboro, NC on November 12, 1930 to Koren Craig King, Sr. and Pearl Spencer King. Duane served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He retired as the Electronics Department Coordinator with UNC-G after 25 years of service. In addition to his parents, Duane was preceded in death by his brothers, Terry and Harlow King, and sister, Dolores Goins. Duane was a caring, generous, and loyal man who always put his family first. He was strong willed and faithful to God and his family. Duane was an excellent golfer and enjoyed cooking and grilling.

He is survived by his wife, Dorotheen Rudd King; sons, Patrick King and wife Lynn of Greensboro and Duane S. King, Jr. and wife Kaite of Spruce Pine; daughter, Venus Pinnix and husband Robert of Greensboro; granddaughter, Rebecca King of High Point; great granddaughter, Aaliyah Coulson; and brother, K.C. King of Greensboro.

The family will receive friends on Friday, April 19, 2019 from 9:30-10:45 am at Flag Springs United Methodist Church, 5852 Zoo Parkway in Asheboro. Funeral services will follow on Friday at 11:00 am at Flag Springs United Methodist Church with Rev. Carol Hunter officiating. Burial will be held in the church cemetery with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
