Billy Joe Cox, age 78, of Asheboro passed away on Monday, June 10, 2019 at High Point Medical Center.

Mr. Cox was born in Randolph County on April 15, 1941 to Reuben and Noralean Beal Cox. He was retired from Centel Telephone Company. Billy was preceded in death by his father, Reuben Cox and his sister, Ellen Blanton. Billy enjoyed fishing, golf, and riding four-wheelers.

He is survived by his wife, Blanche Routh Cox; daughter, Wanda Wilburn and husband Mark of Randleman; grandsons, Mark Wilburn II and wife Jessica of Asheboro and Brandon Wilburn and wife April of Asheboro; great grandson, Chase Wilburn; mother, Noralean Beal Cox of Asheboro; and brothers, Eugene Cox and wife Elizabeth of Asheboro and Gary Cox and wife Kathi of Bennettsville, SC.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 from 9:45-10:45 am at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro. Funeral services will follow on Wednesday at 11:00 am at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Hurlburt and Rev. Mark Wilburn officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.
