Obituary of James Eli Cagle
James Eli Cagle, age 81, of Asheboro, died June 10, 2019 at North Pointe Assisted Living in Archdale.
James was born and raised in Randolph County, the son of Murdo Stamey Cagle and Ola Ingold Cagle. He worked at Stedman Manufacturing until moving to Michigan to start a long career at General Motors, retiring from there after 38 years of service. While in Michigan he was very active in his church. He served as a deacon, taught Sunday School, served as Sunday School Superintendent, and lead congregational singing. To serve the Community he attended Clown School and would make balloon toys for children at parades.
After his retirement he moved back to North Carolina and began woodworking. He also enjoyed taking long walks in the woods, whistling as he went along. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by eight siblings.
He is survived by his wife: Emily T. Cagle, one son: Kevin Cagle and his wife Robin of Bowling Green, OH, two daughters: Sharon Cagle of Loganville, GA, and Judi Cagle of Thomasville, NC step children, Elizabeth Maranian and her husband Tyrone, and Kimberly Wilson and her husband Carl all of MI; Fred Clodfelter and his wife Christine of High Point, NC; and Myra Clodfelter of Greensboro, NC, 12 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; and one brother: Carl Cagle of New Iberia, LA.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 13, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro. The funeral will be held on Friday, June 14, 2019 at 1:00 pm at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Benjamin Ramsaur officiating. Burial will follow in the Farmer United Methodist Church Cemetery in Denton.
