Deborah Faye Reeder

d. June 18, 2019

Deborah Faye Madaris Reeder entered into the presence of God on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 after beating the odds against cancer for the past seven years with support from family, friends, her church family, and her medical professionals. Her family is particularly grateful for the expertise of Dr. Perry Shen at Wake Forest Baptist Health and Dr. Christine McCarty's team at Randolph Cancer Center.

Debbie Reeder was born January 30, 1956, in Randolph County, and was the daughter of the late Henry Preston Madaris and the late Ronnie Pearl Baldwin Madaris. She was 63 years old.

Debbie graduated from Asheboro High School in 1974 and married Garry Reeder that summer. They met two years earlier in the neighborhood store - Ed McComb's Grocery - where Garry worked. They were happily married for 44 years (45 years if she lives until 6/20/19) and have two sons: Garry Lacy Reeder II and Vance Andrew Reeder.

Throughout her life she focused her career and volunteer efforts on bettering the lives of children. She volunteered at Fayetteville Street Baptist School in Asheboro, managed the daycare at Victory Baptist Church in Seagrove, and directed the daycare program at First Baptist Church in Seagrove. She also worked in the Randolph County School System at Seagrove Elementary School and as a Teacher's Assistant and Director of the after-school program at Southmont Elementary School in Asheboro. She consistently shared her love for children, her dedication to their protection, and her belief that all children were a gift of God with limitless potential.

She devoted much of her energy over the last 15 years to her clothing ministry working with family, friends, and the community to ensure that everyone - particularly children - had access to quality clothing. Over the past several years she spent time with the Country Grafters ministry at Union Grove Baptist Church in Seagrove making items for nursing home residents and shut ins. She also served on the board of Seagrove Fire Department.

Debbie and her husband, Garry Reeder, served as wife and pastor at Westfield Baptist Church in Trinity, NC. She truly loved worshiping and serving the Lord at Westfield. Her church family was essential to both her physical and spiritual wellbeing.

She will be missed by her husband Garry Reeder of the home, her son Andy Reeder of Rockingham, NC, her son Garry Reeder II and his wife Shannon Polly of Washington, DC, and her three granddaughters: Jude, Quinn, and Harper.

The family will be receiving guests from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at Pugh Funeral Home in Asheboro, NC. Memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at 11:00 am at Union Grove Baptist Church at 7912 Union Grove Church Rd in Seagrove with interment at Union Grove Christian Church located on 3985 Old State Highway13.

Reverend Ron Chaney of Union Grove Baptist Church will officiate. Her husband and sons will offer eulogies.

In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be sent to the following services: Hospice of Randolph County, whose impeccable service was both professional and personal, 416 Vision Dr., Asheboro NC 27203 or Westfield Baptist Church Children's clothes ministry.
