Robert Aukele Kapule Kawelo, Jr.

Robert "Bob" Aukele Kapule Kawelo, Jr., age 81, of Denton passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro.

Bobby was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on April 22, 1938 to Robert Aukele Kapule and Hattie Kapauna Kawelo. He retired as a crane operator at Pearl Harbor, was a former bus driver for Southwestern Randolph High and Southwestern Randolph Middle Schools, and delivered school buses for QRT in Denton. Bob was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Bob was an avid scouter and was a former Scout Master at his church and in Hawaii. He was also an avid camper. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his siblings, Harriet Kaawakoa, Judy Blakely, MayJade Kawelo, William Kawelo, and Obed Kawelo.

He is survived by his wife, Cindi McCann Kawelo; daughter, Brittney McNeil, and Creighton of Morehead City; son, Robert Brandon Kawelo of Denton; grandchildren, Isaiah Kawelo of Denton, Haydon Kawelo of Denton, Maleah Cagle of Asheboro, Makenna Kawelo of Thomasville, Lacie Willoughby of Thomasville, Memphis McNeil of Morehead City, Samantha McNeil of Morehead City, and Cannon McNeil of Morehead City; and sisters, Sweetie Kilakalua of Hawaii, April Hill of Wyoming and Emerald Pohaku of Ohio.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at 11:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints, 1109 McDowell Road in Asheboro with Bishop Darryl Alexander officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
