Obituary of Mary Lou Hinshaw Tuggle
Mary Lou Hinshaw Tuggle, age 77, of Asheboro passed away on Monday, August 5, 2019 at her home.
She was born May 14, 1942 to Virginia Gertrude Jordan Hinshaw and S. Francis Hinshaw of Asheboro. She was an honor graduate of the 1960 class at Asheboro High School and also an honor graduate of Asheboro Commercial College.
In 1960, she married Charles A. Tuggle of High Point. She and Charles lived for the next three years in the beautiful black hills of the state of South Dakota. After their return home to Asheboro, she was employed with Randolph Radiology for many years.
Charles and Mary Lou were members of South Plainfield Friends Meeting and later Fayetteville Street Baptist Church.
Mary Lou loved music (especially Gospel). She was an accomplished pianist and organist. She traveled many years with her husband, family, and friends to lead Lay Witness Missions. She loved to read and write poetry.
Mary Lou was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. They called her "Nana" and she called them her "treasures."
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her mother and father, her grandparents, Maggie McLoud and Lawrence Hinshaw, and W.J. and Zella Yow Jordan.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Charles; her children, Starsha Marie Tuggle Baynes and husband Travis, Benjamin C. Tuggle and wife Julie Kay Killian Tuggle all of Asheboro; grandchildren, Olivia Marie Baynes Ward and husband Stephen, Abigail Jordan Baynes, Anna Brooke Baynes, Benjamin Cole Tuggle, and Sophia Kay Tuggle all of Asheboro.
The family would like to thank all of Mary Lou's caregivers and Hospice of Randolph for all the concern and loving care given to Mary Lou during her illness.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 from 12:30-1:45 pm at Fayetteville Street Baptist Church, 901 North Fayetteville Street in Asheboro. Funeral services will follow on Wednesday at 2:00 pm at Fayetteville Street Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Browder and Rev. Robert Kidd officiating. Burial will be held at Randolph Memorial Park.
