Obituary of Dennis Ray Summey

Dennis Ray Summey, age 68, of Asheboro passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, August 11, 2019 at his home.

Mr. Summey was born in Asheboro on March 14, 1951 to John and Vonzelle Summey. Dennis proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, was a highly respected contractor and operated Summey Home Repair for almost 40 years.  Dennis was a member of AMVETS and Asheboro American Legion Post 45.   He loved to enjoy life including riding Harley Davidson motorcycles, hanging out with friends, music, and dancing. Although he was never successful at learning the electric slide, he always just did his own dance no matter who was watching.

Dennis is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Shirley Jarrell.

He is survived by his sister, Ronda Summey Hughes and husband Jerry; granddaughter, Brianna Jenkins; long-time friend, Caren Boswell; step children, Paula, Carl, Kristy, Jim; nieces, Delonda, Ranae, Cindy and nephew, Michael.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 22, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro. A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 23, 2019 at 3:30 p.m. at Pierce's Chapel Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, 2661 Ross Wood Road in Trinity with Pastor Lois Johnson officiating. A celebration of life will follow from 5:00-7:00 pm at Coach's Neighborhood Grill.
