Rachael Winnon Andrews Nance

Rachael Winnon Andrews Nance, age 79, of Asheboro passed away Saturday, October 12, 2019 at Randolph Health, Asheboro.

Rachael was born November 5, 1939 the daughter of Charlie Claiborne Andrews and K'ree Scarborough Andrews.

Rachael was born in Person County and attended Foster Street Wesleyan Church in Asheboro. Rachael graduated from East Carolina University with bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. She was a member of the Alpha Phi Sorority. Her professional career covered 38 years in public education, the last 32 years at Randleman Elementary School in Randolph County. Rachael enjoyed dancing, playing bridge, going to the beach and lake and especially reading. She was an avid NC State fan and took special care in decorating their home for Christmas. She loved spending time with her granddaughters and supporting them in all their activities. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother: LCPL Michael Wayne Andrews.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years: James Philmore "Phil" Nance, son: Brian Keith Nance and his wife, Sherry Whitaker Nance of Asheboro; two granddaughters: Kesley Brooke Nance and Kaylen Shea Nance of Asheboro, special aunt: Louise McCumber of Solomons, MD; numerous cousins, extended family and friends.

The family will receive friends Friday, October 18, 2019 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC.

The funeral service will be held Saturday October 19, 2019 at 11:00 AM in the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro with Rev. Charles Moses officiating.

Burial will follow at 3:00 PM in the Andrews-Blalock-Sneede-Timberlake Cemetery, 85 C C Andrews Road, Timberlake, NC 27583. The family will receive friends and family after the committal at Helena United Methodist Church, Fellowship Hall, 290 Helena Moriah Road, Timberlake, NC 27583.
