Obituary of Nancy Lee Thompson Patram
Nancy Lee Thompson Patram, age 90, of Asheboro passed away on Monday, November 4, 2019 at Randolph Hospice House.
Mrs. Patram was born on September 20, 1929 in Petersburg, VA to Mary Catherine Oliver and Theodore Bryant Thompson. She graduated from Petersburg High School in 1947 and received her Secretarial Degree from Madison College. She was an active member of Sigma, Sigma, Sigma Sorority and Tri-Sigma Sorority. After graduating, Nancy worked for the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Virginia Power and Electric Company.
Nancy married Claude F. Patram, Jr. on June 21, 1952. The couple moved to Asheboro, NC and Nancy worked for General Electric as a secretary in the Engineering Department.
She was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Asheboro where she enjoyed singing in the choir and serving as secretary of the United Methodist Women. Nancy was also an active member of Circle #5 for many years. Nancy's love of children led her to the Primary Sunday School Department where she taught Sunday School and played piano for the 5-year old class for 22 years. Nancy visited shut-in members of First United Methodist Church and served on the Friendship Committee for many years.
She made lasting friendships through her Bridge Club throughout the span of her years in Asheboro.
Nancy received much joy from family gatherings, cooking, and music.
She is survived by her daughters, Claudia Lynne Patram of Raleigh and Carol Patram Farlow and husband Philip of Asheboro; sons, Michael Bryant Patram of Asheboro and Bruce Thompson Patram and wife Joyce of Asheboro and their daughter Ava; sister, Mary Jane Barlow of Colonial Heights, VA and her children Cathy and Dave; and sister-in-law, Jewell Rose and husband Gary of Colonial Heights, VA and their daughter Sarah. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 10, 2019 from 1:00-2:15 pm in the parlor of First United Methodist Church, 224 North Fayetteville Street in Asheboro followed by a memorial service at 2:30 pm officiated by Rev. Lynda Ferguson. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery.
