Helen Louise Stephenson

Helen Louise Boddy Stephenson, age 80, of Asheboro passed away Friday, January 3, 2020 at Randolph Hospice House, Asheboro. She was born April 21, 1939 in Geneva, Alabama the daughter of Noah Boddy and Mertie Mae Massey Howell. Helen retired from Eveready Battery and enjoyed crocheting, bus trips and was a very devoted, loving mother, granny, sister and friend. After retiring, Helen worked in the nursery at the YMCA. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by two sisters: Opal J. Webb and Martha L. Richardson. She is survived by son: Dennis R. Stephenson (his fiancé, Linda Dunn) of Asheboro; daughters: Donna S. Small of Asheboro and Deb S. York (husband Kenny) of Asheboro; grandchildren: Dana (husband Tyler) Brown and Jessica (husband Brad) Rush; great grandchild: Leela Jean Brown; brothers: George "Junior" Howell of Biscoe, Joseph Frazier Howell of Asheboro and Jones Lamar Howell (wife Cindi) of The Highlands, Texas; sisters: Barbara A. Howell and Betty J. Gordon both of Asheboro, and Etta Mae Fields (husband Dan) of Pleasant Garden. The family will receive friends Sunday, January 5, 2020 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. The funeral will be Monday, January 6, 2020 at 2:00 pm in the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro with Pastors Bill and Donna Chriscoe officiating.
