Virginia Krewson King, age 93 of Asheboro died February 9, 2020 at Clapp's Nursing Home.
Virginia was born in Philadelphia, PA to Walter and Agnes Krewson and was a member of St Joseph's Catholic Church in Asheboro, NC.
She was a Graduate of St Hubert's Catholic High School in Philadelphia, PA and Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Charlotte, NC
She was a First Lieutenant in the US Air Force stationed in Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX during the Korean Conflict
She spent much of her nursing career working as a pediatric and private duty nurse at Randolph Hospital, a Home Health nurse with the Randolph County Health Department and a Health Occupations teacher at Asheboro High School. She spent her life taking care of others and using her nursing skills to help in the community.
Her greatest passion was spending time with her family and volunteering with numerous activities with her children when they were young. She also enjoyed knitting, reading, shopping, and any activity that involved keeping her mind sharp.
She is preceded in death by her husband John Dewitt King Sr. and her siblings Walter Krewson, Mary Lassiter, Irma Marley, and Johnny Krewson.
She is survived by Annette Bean (Donald), Jay King (Pam), Marlene Albright (Phil), Helen Wallace (Doug), Mary King, Linda Barrett (Drexel) and 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Thursday, February 13, 2020 from 6-8 at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Ave., Asheboro and other times at the home of Mary King. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 14, 2020 at 11:00 am at St Josephs' Catholic Church with Father Phillip Kollithanath officiating. Burial will follow at Seagrove United Methodist Church in Seagrove.
