Margaret Betts Stoltz, age 101, of Chapel Hill died peacefully Thursday, April 2, 2020 at the SECU Hospice Home in Pittsboro, NC. Mrs. Stoltz Was born June 5, 1918 in Asheboro, NC to Mattie Florence (Steed) Betts and Rufus Eggbert Betts. She was married to the late Weldon Robert Stoltz and they made their home in Asheboro, NC until 1975. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who looked forward to every family gathering. An enthusiastic UNC Tarheel fan, she loved to host gatherings of friends and family around Carolina basketball games. Cooking was her favorite pastime and she enjoyed watching the TV cooking channels and preparing meals for family and friends. She also enjoyed gardening and home decorating, especially for holidays. She had a sweet personality and was loved by all who knew her. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Stoltz Huff, her son-in-law Ronald Merritt, one grandson Michael W. Huff and one great grandson Tyler Michael Huff. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Walter Betts, Clarence Betts, James Betts and Charles Betts; and three sisters, Ruth Elaine Betts Hobbs, Mary Betts McPherson and Harriett Betts. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff of the UNC Medical Center's Hospice Care Services and the SECU Jim & Betsy Bryan Hospice Home of UNC Health Care. A private graveside service will be held due to the Covid-19 concerns. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the UNC Children's Hospital, 101 Manning Drive, Chapel Hill, NC 27514.
