Wade Boyles Lawrence, age 96, of Asheboro passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2020 at his home. Mr. Lawrence was born March 24, 1924 in Surry County, to William Jesse and Catherine Shephard Lawrence. Wade served in the Army during WW II as a Corporal in the 551st Anti-Aircraft Division, 3rd Army under General George Patton. He proudly served his country in the battles of Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, and Rhineland against the Germans. Once home, Wade was a lifetime member at Calvary United Methodist Church and played softball for the Randolph Packers. He owned and operated Wades City Auto Service for more than 40 years. He was the former Chief of the North Asheboro Fire Department. Wade was a member of the Randolph County Honor Guard. Wade coached different teams in the pony and colt baseball leagues and most importantly was a devoted husband, father and provider for his family. In addition to his parents, Wade is preceded in death by his wife of 75 years, Mary Eloise Lawrence and 11 siblings. He is survived by daughters: Joyce (Nolan) McDowell of Stokesdale, Vickie Lawrence of Asheboro; son, Don (Zelda) Lawrence of Mt. Holly; 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. A private service will be held. The family would like to give a special "thank you" to the hospice workers, caregivers and Marlene Jordan for the love and care they provided for Wade. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Wade’s honor to Hospice Community Home Care, 533 S. Fayetteville St., Asheboro, NC 27203
