James "Jim" Franklin Plott Jr., 90, of Asheboro, NC, passed away peacefully, of natural causes, surrounded by his loving family, on June 13, 2020 at Randolph Hospice House. Jim was born on November 10, 1929, to the late Kathleen Ford Plott Brookshire and James Franklin Plott Sr. He was married to the love of his life, the late June Williamson Plott, for 60 years. They were blessed with 3 sons. Jim worshipped at First Baptist Church of Asheboro where he was an active member of the Senior Men's Sunday School class. He joined the U.S. Air Force and served in the Korean War and was stationed in Tokyo, Japan. After the war Jim graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and enjoyed watching all Tar Heel sports. Jim spent his work career with Union Carbide and Eveready (Energizer) Battery. His work career took him and his family to Charlotte, NC, Bay Village, OH, South Hampton, PA, and Asheboro, NC. He loved his wife and boys, his grandchildren, great grandchildren and many friends. Jim, along with June, enjoyed playing golf with their friends and they always enjoyed eating Lexington BBQ. He loved spending time with his family in the house he built at Oak Island, NC. He traveled to Southport, NC every year for the 4th of July celebration to enjoy the pancake breakfast, arts festival, choral concert, and patriotic parade. He was very skilled with wood working, painting duck decoys, and picture framing. Jim admired his Uncle John Ford, a cabinet maker, who lived by the motto "I just did it, because I did not see a reason why I couldn't do it". He is survived and remembered lovingly by his three sons, Phil Plott (Sarah), Greg Plott (Leah), and Tim Plott (Shelley); eight grandchildren Dana, James, Maria, Samantha, Drew, Taylor, Colby, and Hannah; five great grandchildren and one due in July; two brothers Lee Brookshire and Jerry Plott. The family is grateful for the loving care and friendship of Kenita Matthews-White and her family. Jim is preceded in death by his wife June and his oldest grandson Jonathan. Due to current restrictions, friends may pay respects at a "Lie In State" viewing on Tuesday June 16, 2020 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue Asheboro, NC. A private memorial service will be held for the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be made to Randolph Hospice House, 446 Vision Drive Asheboro, NC 27203 or The Alzheimer's Association, Western NC at alz.org.
