Frederick "Fred" William Breitenbach, age 79, of Asheboro passed away Monday, June 8, 2020 at Wesley Long Community Hospital in Greensboro. Mr. Breitenbach was born in Plainfield, NJ on January 2, 1941 to Marie Wytak and Ferdinand Breitenbach. He served with honor in the U.S. Air Force from 1959-1964. Fred graduated from University College Rutgers University with a B.S. degree in Business Management in 1971. He moved to Charlotte, NC in 1971 where he met and married his wife Angeline in 1973. He and Angeline had a daughter, Katrina, born in 1974. They moved to Asheboro in 1989 to pursue a ministry to prison inmates and their families. Fred taught literacy skills through Randolph Community College at the Randolph Correctional Center from 1990-2005 and developed a life skills program to supplement the ABE/GED curriculum. Fred also held several supervisory and management positions in the food industry from 1971-1990. To the joy of his wife, Angeline, he portrayed Santa Claus at the Randolph Mall for ten years and Uncle Sam for Liberty Tax Services for eight years. Fred has been a life-long advocate for victims of injustice, especially children. "Some men see things as they are and ask why. I dream things that never were and say why not!" In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his wife, Angeline, daughter, Katrina, brother, Leonard McInville of Boiling Springs, SC and sister, Beverly Pypniowski of Quakertown, PA. He is survived by his sister, Kathy DeLoriea of South Bound Brook, NJ and stepchildren, Nina Huddleston of Mountain Home, AR, Laura Lanter of Mt. Pleasant, and Ralph Seamon of Raleigh. No services are planned at this time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Project Angel Tree, Prison Fellowship, P.O. Box 1550, Merrifield, VA 22116-1550 or Hospice of Randolph, P.O. Box 9, Asheboro, NC 27204-0009. Pugh Funeral Home in Asheboro is serving the Breitenbach family.
