Samuel Pyott "Sam" Sluss, age 73, of Asheboro went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center, Winston- Salem.
Mr. Sluss was born May 20, 1947 to Crockett Pyott and Bessie Brooks Sluss. Sam was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Sam was a godly man and was a member at the House of Hope Church. He worked 40 years in the furniture industry as a supervisor in the finishing department before retiring. Sam proudly served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War. He loved spending time with his family, especially his children, grandchildren and his great grandson. In addition to his parents, Sam is preceded in death by his brothers, William and Thurman Sluss; and sister, Jane Isabelle Billups.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Peggy Williams Sluss of the home; daughter, Kay Lynn Hill and husband Charles of Randleman; son, Samuel James Sluss of Asheboro; grandchildren, Bailey and Chandler Hammack; great grandson, Oakley Hammack; and sister, Symantha Tysinger of Ramseur.
Sam will lie in state on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 from 1:00 - 5:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at 10:00 AM at the House of Hope Church Cemetery, 117 Harris St., Lexington with Pastor Ronnie Bowles officiating.
