Benjamin Fisher Luckenbach

d. July 27, 2020

Benjamin Fisher Luckenbach, son of Eric and Christie Luckenbach, brother to Beau; grandson of Dr. Harry Killian and the late Peggy Killian, Roy Luckenbach and the late Ann Luckenbach and numerous extended family passed away unexpectedly Monday, July 27, 2020. Ben had a servant's heart. His focus was always on how he could make things better for others and he certainly did it without care of acknowledgement or accolades. He did it because he felt it in his heart. Ben was an 8th grader at Uwharrie Charter Academy. His kind heart led him to quietly mentor many individuals and he volunteered himself for the Randolph County Special Olympics. Ben was the captain of the wrestling team the last two years, and was always seen on the sidelines cheering his teammates on! He was all about supporting those around him without focusing on himself. As said by one of his educators, "Ben didn't do things for glory, he did them because they were right and good." Ben was an exemplary chess player and relished the time he spent with the Chess Club of Asheboro. Ben and his dad played chess often and one can only guess the outcome of that match – Ben won. Ben Luckenbach was witty, content, unpretentious, loving, loyal, real, complimentary of both people and things, bright, intuitive and perceptive beyond his years – he was an old soul. He was the "great indoorsman" and the ultimate foodie. Characteristically he was seen in cargo shorts and flip flops no matter what the season. He graced us with his unmistakable clever grin. He loved his family, he loved his parents and his brother, Beau. We will forever miss everything about our precious Benito. Please join Family and Friends as we remember the life of Ben Luckenbach Saturday, August 1st at 2215 Old Lexington Road in Asheboro, NC at 10 AM. Casual attire (flip flops mandatory) and bring your own chair or blanket – the service will be held outside on the lawn. The service will be videoed and posted for viewing on a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Ben Luckenbach to The Children's Home Society of North Carolina: chsnc.org or to Christian Mental Health and Suicide Prevention anthemofhope.org.
