William Ted Scott, age 65, of Asheboro passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2020 at Randolph Hospice House.
Mr. Scott was born in Randolph County on January 7, 1955 to William Thurman and Mildred Beane Scott, who preceded him in death. Ted was a 1973 graduate of Asheboro High School and a 1975 graduate of Randolph Technical Institute. He formerly attended Foster Street Wesleyan Church. Ted was employed as a Manager with Safeguard Safety Shoes in Greensboro for 10 years. He was formerly employed as a mechanic for Roy Hill Drag Racing and later obtained his pilot's license. Ted was a cattle farmer for many years and co-owner/operator of Seagrove Superette. He was a volunteer fireman and Deputy Chief at the Ulah Fire Department. Ted enjoyed playing baseball and football.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Sheilah Nichols Scott; daughters, Shannon Smith (Ryan) of Asheboro and Megan Scott of Asheboro; sons, Tyler Scott of Asheboro; stepson, Christopher Doerr (Holly Jon) of Asheboro; grandchildren, Haley Scott, Andrew Poole, KaiLee and Kinley Doerr; great grandchild, Everlee Headen; several close cousins; and many friends.
Ted's body will lie in state on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 from 1:00-5:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2020 at 11:00 am at New Hope Memorial Gardens, 3448 New Hope Church Road in Asheboro with honors by the Ulah Fire Department.
