James Walter Ridge

James Walter "Jim" Ridge, age 88, of Asheboro passed away Friday, August 7, 2020 at Cross Road Retirement Community, Asheboro. Jim was born September 4, 1931 in Guilford County, the son of Ernest Walter Ridge and Mary Hancock Ridge. Jim was a graduate of Oak Ridge Military Academy and East Carolina University. He was a veteran of the US Army and a member of First E & R United Church of Christ. He enjoyed riding horses, playing golf, and traveling to the beach. Jim was owner/operator of Ridge Auto Mart for 48 years. In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Craven and Teeny Bishop. Jim is survived by his wife of 65 years: Shirley Whitley Ridge, sons: Tim (Lorraine) Ridge of Asheboro and Ernie Ridge of Fairfax, VA, daughters: Jamie "Sissy" Ridge of Asheboro and Debbie (Bill) Ridge-Freuler of Aiken, SC; grandchildren: Zack Ridge, Beau Ridge, Landon Ridge and Hunter Ridge; great grandchild: Braxton Ridge; several nephews and his fur babies. Mr. Ridge's urn and registry will be available Monday, August 10, 2020 from 1:00 – 5:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. A graveside memorial service will be held Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at 11:00 am at Randolph Memorial Park, 4538 US Hwy 220 Bus. North, Asheboro with Pastor Gary Mason, Pastor Mark Wilburn and Rev. Dave Cash officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
