Joyce Marie Whittington Sharpe

Joyce Marie Whittington Sharpe, age 69, of Randleman passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at her home surrounded by family. Ms. Sharpe was born in Guilford County on March 25, 1951 to Ivey Ray and Verla Mae Phillips Whittington. She was a homemaker and attended West Asheboro Church of God. Joyce was preceded in death by her father, Rev. Ray Whittington, her brother, Jimmy Whittington, her granddaughter, Haley Sharpe, and her twin sisters, Wanda and Rhonda Whittington. Joyce loved spending time with her grandchildren, knitting, and planting flowers. She loved playing Rummy. Joyce loved her church family at West Asheboro Church of God. She is survived by her daughter, Melissa Hill (Thomas) of Asheboro, son, Timmy Sharpe of Asheboro; grandchildren, Cecily Hill, Aaron Hill, Zachary Hill, David Sharpe, and Jimmy Sharpe; great grandson, Brody Hill; mother, Verla Mae Whittington of Randleman; and sisters, Linda Lanier of Denton and Helen Hodge (Walser) of Asheboro. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 28, 2020 from 6:00-8:00 pm at West Asheboro Church of God, 197 Lewallen Road in Asheboro. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at 2:00 pm at West Asheboro Church of God with Rev. Travis Cooke officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery.
