Joann Rasnick Mann

d. August 28, 2020

Joann Mann passed away peacefully after several years of dealing with Alzheimer's Disease. Joann was born in Appalachia, Virginia, the first daughter of Roy and Bertie Rasnick. She grew up with a close-knit family, especially her Granny Shepherd. The family later moved to Weber City, VA, where Joann graduated high school and went to work at Weber City Drug Store. That's where she met the love of her life. Doug was a customer at the store and started shopping there frequently once he noticed the pretty cashier. Doug and Joann were married and raised two children, Debbie and Randy. Joann was a stay-at-home Mom for several years before starting her career as a receptionist at Randolph Savings and Loan in Asheboro, NC, where the family had moved in 1964. She later went on to become a realtor for Trollinger Real Estate. Joann enjoyed the people she met and friends she made at both jobs. She and Doug joined Flag Springs Methodist Church in Asheboro where they made many life-long and cherished friends. They spent a few years living in Sparta, NC, where Doug was transferred for work. It was while living in Sparta that they made more dear friends and became grandparents for the first time. They both relished their new roles. They eagerly welcomed two more grandchildren in 2000. They enjoyed frequent trips to Cherry Grove Beach, SC with family and friends, and enjoyed other travel as well. Joann was preceded in death by her husband, Doug; her parents, Roy and Bertie Rasnick, and her youngest sister, Betty Jane Rasnick. She is survived by her children Debbie Phillips (John) of Cary, NC; Randy Mann (Julie) of Roanoke, VA; grandchildren Ben Phillips (Alison) of Apex, NC, Elena Mann of Roanoke, VA, and Tyler Mann of Roanoke, VA.; sister Sarah Cox of Seagrove, NC, and extended family members and dear friends who miss her so much. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her memory to Flag Springs United Methodist Church (5852 Zoo Parkway, Asheboro, NC 27205). The family is especially grateful to the people at Sunrise of Cary, Avondale at Weaver Crossing, Phoenix of Cary, Doctors Making House Calls, and Heartland Hospice for their amazing care of Joann during the past years. A graveside service will be held Sunday, September 13, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Flag Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery, 5852 Zoo Parkway, Asheboro with Rev. Carol Hunter officiating.
