Patricia Howerton Pipes, age 79, of Asheboro died Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center in Salisbury.
Mrs. Pipes was born in Guilford County on March 22, 1941 to Jessie and JoAnna Howerton.
She was a former member of Calvary United Methodist Church and a member of the Red Hat Society. Mrs. Pipes started the Lamar Drive Bridge Club and played for approximately 50 years with the club. She was a 3rd and 4th grade teacher at New Market Elementary School with 29 years of service. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Pipes was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Pipes.
She is survived by son, Clintin R. “Rusty” Pipes and wife Angela of Salisbury; daughter, Victoria A. Pipes and companion Brandon of Spruce Pine; nieces, Adele McLean and husband Don of Chapel Hill, Angela McLean and husband Chris Wallace; nephew, John Pipes of Todd; brother-in-law, David Pipes and wife Gina of Winston-Salem; sister-in-law, Claudia McLean of Taylorsville; cousins, Joe Zier of Glen Allen, VA, Mary Ray of Greensboro and a host of extended family.
A private service will be held.
