Daniel Neil "Danny" Pope

Daniel Neil "Danny" Pope, age 82, of Asheboro passed away on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at Randolph Hospice House. Mr. Pope was born in Laurinburg on February 19, 1938 to Walter Monroe Pope, Sr. and Lucy Neal Russ Pope and was a 1956 graduate of Seagrove High School. Danny was a member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church. He was formerly employed with Herlocker Oil Company and Oakwood Mobile Homes and was retired from Briles Oil Company. In addition to his parents, Danny was preceded in death by his wife, Helen McNeill Pope, and son, Monte Pope. Danny loved to play bluegrass music and was an accomplished guitar player. He is survived by his son, Neil Pope and wife Ashley of Winston-Salem; sisters, Nancy King of Asheboro and Deborah Short and husband Mike of Fort Mill, SC; brothers, Walter Pope and wife Ann of Asheboro and Lloyd Pope and wife Brenda of Pleasant Garden; and many loving nieces and nephews. Danny's body will lie in repose on Saturday, December 5, 2020 from noon-4:00 pm Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, December 6, 2020 at 3:00 pm at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery, 7811 Pisgah Covered Bridge Road in Asheboro with Pastor Brian Faircloth officiating.
