Shirley Jean Florence Ferguson Dickens

Shirley Jean Florence Ferguson Dickens, age 85 of Asheboro went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home, Asheboro. Mrs. Dickens was born February 25, 1935 to Lloyd W. and Rose Demeter Ferguson. Shirley was employed with Randolph Hospital as an OR Tech for 40 years before retiring. She enjoyed traveling to the beach and absolutely adored cardinals feeling that they were a message from Heaven. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Dickens; and sister, Elaine Ferguson. She is survived by her daughters; Carole Harris (Scott) Smith of Asheboro, Diane Harris Trogdon of Asheboro; stepdaughters; Delores Dickens (Tom) Garner of Asheboro, Lisa Dickens (Keith) Dunlap of Seagrove, Tracey Dickens of Seagrove; grandchildren, Chad (Kara) Trogdon, Lane (Vaishali) Trogdon, Derek Willett; great granddaughter, Abby Willett the light of her life; Abby’s mother, Sarah Willett, Crystal Garner, Terry (Sally) Garner, Jana Hartis, Heather (Brandon) Simmons; 12 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren. Shirley will lie in repose on Saturday, January 2, 2021 from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. A private family graveside service will be held at New Hope Memorial Gardens, 3448 New Hope Church Road, Asheboro with Rev. Frank Barrett officiating. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. Due to Covid-19, the family request that all attendees to the service wear a mask and adhere to social distancing guidelines.
