Carole Jean Perdue Thornburg

Carole Jean Perdue Thornburg, age 85, of Asheboro died Saturday, December 26, 2020 at her home. Mrs. Thornburg was born in Asheboro on November 2, 1935 to Willie and Nellie Morris Perdue. Carole was a 1954 graduate of Asheboro High School where she played basketball. She was formerly employed with B.B. Walker Shoe Company. In addition to her parents, Carole was preceded in death by her brother, William E. Perdue, Jr. Carole was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Farrell Thornburg; sons, Robin Thornburg (Kaylee) of Florence, SC and Zack Thornburg (Laura) of Asheboro; daughter, Rhonda Burns (Steve) of Sophia; grandchildren, William Thornburg (Morgan), Emily LeRoy (Kris), Ellen Brisley (Rob), John Thornburg (Nikki), Jack Thornburg, Jensen Thornburg, and JD Thornburg; 6 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Carole's body will lie in repose on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 from 1:00-5:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at 11:00 am at Randolph Memorial Park, 4538 US Hwy 220 Bus. North in Asheboro with Pastor Marcus Wall officiating.
