William Douglas Cheek, age 57, of Asheboro died Thursday, January 7, 2021 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro. Mr. Cheek was born July 12, 1963, the son of Marvin and the Hildegard Schwerdthöffer Cheek. Doug served in the Air Force. He graduated from Asheboro High School with the class of 1981. He was employed with United Brass Works for 25 years and Lowe's Hardware for 15 years. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and attended Brower's Wesleyan Church. Doug enjoyed fishing, technology, and watching the History Channel. He was preceded in death by his mother, Hildegard Schwerdthöffer Cheek; and sister, Alicea Barnwell. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Craven Cheek; Daughters: Tiffany Erin Hulin and Megan Janna-Marie Mallory Cheek; dad, Marvin Cheek; Mother in law, Janice S. Craven; brother in law, Alan (Kelly) Craven; niece, Katherine and nephew Sean; cousin, Renate Auman and her son, Daniel and fiance Patrice. Doug will lie in repose, with the family present, on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 from 1:00-5:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. The funeral will be held Wednesday at 3:00 PM at Brower's Wesleyan Church, 1734 Mack Rd., Asheboro with Pastor Bryant Madren and Rev. Doug Hefner officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard. Burial will be in Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury at a later date. Memorials may be made to Backpack Program, Brower's Wesleyan Church, 1734 Mack Rd., Asheboro, NC 27205. The family would like to thank High Point Regional and their rehab facility. We would like to thank Justin and Reggie for all their hard work and care with Doug’s prosthetics. We also want to thank Cone Health for their great care as well. We would like to thank the countless doctors and staff of the Salisbury VA and Thomasville Dialysis Center and Asheboro Dialysis Center for their love and support as well. Most of all, we would like to send our love and thanks to all the family and friends that have showed us their love and support along this journey. We couldn’t have done this without you. We love you all and will never forget all the kindness you have shown us. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
