Obituary of Ramona Mary Benoit Shepard

Ramona Mary Benoit Shepard, age 88, of Asheboro died Monday, January 11, 2021 at Alpine Health & Rehabilitation, Asheboro. Mrs. Shepard was born March 20, 1932 the daughter of David and Mary Snook Benoit. Ramona was a native of St. George's, Newfoundland, Canada and a graduate of St. Michael's College. She taught school for a few years, worked at Ernest Harmon and Goose Bay/Labrador Air Force Bases all in Newfoundland before moving to the United States in 1966. She was retired after 20 years as a department manager from Rose's Department Store and a longtime member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Ramona loved all of her family but especially her grandchildren and she will be greatly missed. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother: Max Bennett. She is survived by one daughter: Cindy (Mike) Ingold of Asheboro, NC, granddaughter, Kristin (Logan) Morris of Great Lakes, IL; grandson, Michael Ingold of Asheboro, NC; grandson, Kasey Ingold of Norfolk, VA, great grandchildren, Lilly and Levi Morris, two sisters: Theresa Thornburg and Lillian Hazelwood of Asheboro, NC, and brothers, Alex, Fred and Leo Bennett all of St. George's, Newfoundland, Canada. The Funeral Mass will be Thursday at 1:00 PM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 512 W. Wainman Ave., Asheboro and will be Celebrated by Father Phillip Kollithanath. Interment will be in Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 512 W. Wainman Av., Asheboro, NC 27203 or to Hospice of Randolph 416 Vision Drive Asheboro, NC 27203. Pugh Funeral Home in Asheboro is serving the Shepard family.
