John David Hayworth

John David Hayworth, 88, died on January 14, 2021 at Atrium Health-Cabarrus. John was born on September 23, 1932 in Christiansburg, VA, the son of Raymond Hall Hayworth and Virginia Jones Hayworth. He attended High Point High School and graduated from Oak Ridge Military Academy. Subsequently, he attended Virginia Tech as well as NC State University. John worked for many years in sales positions for numerous companies. On December 20, 1953, John married his high school sweetheart and lifelong love, Gladys H. Hayworth. John was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. His children and grandchildren were the light of his life. John was preceded in death by Gladys Hayworth, his wife of 60 years, who passed away on October 12, 2014. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Raymond H. Hayworth, Jr. of Salisbury, NC. John is survived by his children John David Hayworth, Jr and wife Mary of Scottsdale, AZ; Ginny Hoover and husband Chip of Concord, NC; Phillip Hayworth of Lexington, NC; and grandchildren, Trey Hoover and wife Sara, Meredith Hoover, Nicole Hayworth Beale, Hannah Hayworth, John Micah Hayworth; and great grandson Will Hoover. John's love of family was reflected in his strong Christian faith. His active participation as a member of Emerywood Baptist Church included decades of service as an Usher and Youth Sunday School Teacher. He also served for several years as an Assistant Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 2. A memorial service to celebrate John's life will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 11:00 am in the Mausoleum at Guilford Memorial Gardens in Greensboro, NC. The family will receive friends before and after the service. The family requests memorials be made to either Emerywood Baptist Church, 1300 Country Club Drive, High Point, NC 27262, Boy Scout Troop 2 (Emerywood Baptist Church, High Point, NC), or the Lewy Body Dementia Association (912 Killian Hill Road SW, Lilburn, GA 30047).
