Garland Ben Latham, age 78, of Asheboro passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Latham was born in Randolph County on March 13, 1942 to Paul and Ethel Sanders Latham. Garland served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was employed with Burlington Industries for 29 years. He was a loving husband and father. He was a member of Back Creek Friends Meeting. In addition to his parents, Garland was preceded in death by his sister, Cora Jane Latham. Garland enjoyed playing golf. He always had a smile and loved to joke and be around people.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Betty Landers Latham; daughter, Tina Garlene Latham of Asheboro; brothers, Nick Latham of Candor and Roy Latham of Denton; sisters, Pauline Ferrell of Denton, Jean Cagle (Roger) of Denton, and Mary Bullins (Doug) of Asheboro; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Latham's body will lie in repose on Saturday, January 23, 2021 from 1:00-5:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro. Due to COVID-19, a private service for the immediate family will be held.
