Benny Wayne Rush

Benny Wayne Rush, age 85, of Asheboro passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home. Mr. Rush was born in Montgomery County on February 16, 1935 to Calvin and Winnie Greene Rush. Benny served his country in the U.S. Army and was the owner/operator of Brown & Rush Electrical. He was a member of Eastside Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Benny was preceded in death by his brothers, Walter, Alton, Robert, and Donald Rush, and sister, Earlene Rush. Benny enjoyed farming tobacco, had a green thumb, and loved to garden. He is survived by his wife, Genola Patterson Rush; stepchildren, Wayne Powell (Melinda) of Asheboro, Colen Powell (Robin) of Thomasville, and Ronald Powell of Pleasant Garden; step grandchildren, Brooks, Ty, Trevor, and Griffin Powell; and brother, Billy Rush (Doris) of Asheboro. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at 11:00 am at Randolph Memorial Park, 4538 US Hwy 220 Business North in Asheboro with Pastor Troy Carter officiating and with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard. Pugh Funeral Home in Asheboro is serving the Rush family.
