Risberth Arrowood Brooks, age 97, of Asheboro died Wednesday, March 24, 2021.
Mrs. Brooks was born July 26, 1923 in Caroleen, NC (Rutherford County) to James and Myrtle Davis Arrowood.
Mrs. Brooks and her husband Willard owned and operated Willard's Foodland in Marion for over 30 years and she was an active member of Clinchfield Baptist Church, Marion. She lived most of her life in Marion and moved to Asheboro in 2004 to be near her daughter and other family and she then became a member of Oakhurst Baptist Church. After retiring, Mrs. Brooks spent many days traveling both in the US and Europe. She was a loving, hardworking and compassionate mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her daughter, Graye Hartis and husband Norman of Asheboro; son, Neils W. Brooks, Sr. and wife Elena of Duck, NC; grandchildren, Kent and Brent Hartis of Asheboro, Neils Brooks, II of Gun Barrell City, TX, Jennifer Brooks of Richmond, VA; step grandchildren, Jennifer Henning of Boston, MA, Allen Henning of Huntsville, AL; 4 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
A graveside service will be held at McDowell Memorial Park in Marion.
