Lacy Eugene "Gene" Auman, age 77, of Asheboro died Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at Wesley Long Community Hospital.
Mr. Auman was born March 6, 1944 in Randolph County to Lacy Edward and Virginia Auman.
Mr. Auman was a 1962 graduate of Seagrove School and was an Army veteran of the Vietnam Era. He was retired from Energizer after 43 years of service. Mr. Auman was an avid hunter and fisherman and any other activity as long as it was outdoors. He loved all sports and was a season ticketholder of the Asheboro Copperheads. In addition to his parents, Mr. Auman was preceded in death by his sister, Laverne Williams.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Cleo Hoover Auman; daughters, Angela Hazelwood and husband Tommy of Trinity, Rhonda Auman of Delran, NJ; step-children, Gail Moore and husband Chris of Seagrove, Carson Bowman and wife Debbie of Asheboro, Jamie Flannery of Asheboro; 7 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; sister, Louise Hancock of Asheboro; brothers, Harold Auman and wife Sammye of Asheboro, Danny Auman and wife Debbie of Asheboro; many loving nieces and nephews.
Mr. Auman will lie in repose on Saturday, April 3, 2021 from 12:30-1:45 pm at Pleasant Hill Primitive Baptist Church, New Hope Church Road, Asheboro. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 pm in the church cemetery with Elder David Lee Brooks officiating and with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
