Stoney Lee Moore, age 83, of Asheboro died Friday, May 28, 2021 at Randolph Health.
Mr. Moore was born August 15, 1937 in Moore County to Russell and Edith Moore.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. Mr. Moore was a retired car salesman who had worked for Williams Automotive and Hoffman Automotive. He also had been an airplane flight instructor and air traffic controller. Mr. Moore enjoyed playing golf, driving and was an avid walker. He walked three miles a day, seven days a week. In addition to his parents, Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his brother, Norman Moore and sister, Barbara Stewart.
He is survived by daughter, Lisa Cain of Asheboro; son, James Byran Moore of Conway, SC; granddaughter, Kasey Cain of Harkers Island; sisters, Louise Butler and husband Carlton of Smith Mountain Lake, VA, Shelvia McAnulty and husband Jerry of Florida; brother, Jerry Moore of Robbins; sister-in-law, Delois Moore of Robbins.
The family will receive friends Monday, May 31, 2021 from 12-1:00pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 at in the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Michael Poindexter officiating. Burial with military rites by the Randolph County Honor Guard will be in Randolph Memorial Park.
