Dixie Cannon Hayes, 90, passed away on June 14,2021 at Hospice of Randolph.
Dixie was born in Montgomery County North Carolina to Joseph H. Cannon and Ellie Britt Cannon on May 28, 1931.
She married Montae Keith Hayes on October 28, 1949. They were happily married for 66 years until his passing in August 2016.
Dixie enjoyed traveling, the beach, and dancing and was a member of numerous square dance and round dance clubs.
In addition to her parents, Dixie is preceded in death by her husband, Montae Keith Hayes; her sister, Merita Cannon Maner; and her brother, Joseph H. Cannon, Jr.
Dixie is survived by her daughter Wanda Hayes Brady (Michael) of Asheboro; sons, Montae J. Hayes of Badin Lake, David I. Hayes (Lisa) of Staley, and Jerry K. Hayes (Kena) of Asheboro; brother, Tony L. Cannon (Jackie) of High Point; sister-in-law, Shelby Cannon of Asheboro; grandchildren, Michael Brian Ingold (Wendy) of Asheboro, Bradley Kirk Bray (Laura) of Charleston, SC, Leigh Anna Davis (Brandin) of Asheboro, Kinlin Hayes Charcut (Nick) of Charlotte, Savannah Hayes Cummins (Zach) of Sandusky, OH, Kory Edmundson (Taylor) of Sanford, and Kameron Edmundson (fiancee Alexis) of Asheboro; great grandchildren, Steven and Knoble "Luke" Bray, Brayden Davis, Brady and Beason Charcut, and Madilyn and Lukas Edmundson.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 17, 2021 from 11:00 am-12:00 noon at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 noon in the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Bernie Raymond officiating. Burial will be held in Randolph Memorial Park.
