Albert Ray "Al" Byrd, age 83, of Pleasant Garden died Friday, July 2, 2021 at Beacon Place Hospice And Palliative Care Of Greensboro. Al was born July 17, 1937 the son of Albert and Thelma Byrd. Al was a native of Montgomery County, a Vietnam Veteran and a Proud Marine and he was a member of Pleasant Garden Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Al is preceded in death by a sister: Jean B. McRae. He is survived by his wife: Janice Hall "Jan" Byrd of Pleasant Garden, NC; three sons: Barry (Julie) Byrd of Summerfield, NC, Chris (Shelley) Byrd of Montvale, VA and Mitch (Cristine) Byrd of Anchorage, AK; grandchildren: USAF SSGT Grayson Byrd of Oklahoma City, OK; McKenzie Byrd of Jacksonville, NC; Josh And Robert (Tori) Knight of Summerfield, NC; great grandchildren: Alexia and Gavin; brother: Leo (Susan) Byrd of Flat Rock, OR, and sister: Roxanne (Richard) Scott of Wadeville, NC. The Graveside Service will be Tuesday at 11:00 AM at Oaklawn Cemetery, Asheboro with Rev. Michael Barrett officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the grave.
