Asheboro--Myrtle Walker Smith, age 83, of Asheboro died Tuesday, March 9, 2004 at Mariner Health Care, Asheboro. Mrs. Smith was born in Ridgeway, VA and was previously employed with General Electric, Stedman Corporation, and Carolina Canvas. She was a former member of Seagrove United Methodist Church and was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert William Walker and Robert Smith. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Evelyn and Phillip Fagg of Asheboro, NC; son & daughter-in-law, Everett and Brenda Walker of Asheboro, NC; son: Robert Walker, Jr. of Burlington, NC; son and daughter-in-law, Linwood and Nancy Walker of Asheboro, NC; step sons, Bobby Smith, Calvin Smith and Johnny Smith all of Greensboro, NC; step daughters, Hilda Robinson of Greensboro, NC and Becky Ryckman of Palm Harbor, FL; grandsons, Jeff Walker, Todd Walker, Brian Walker, Mike Walker, all of Asheboro, NC and Phillip Fagg II of North Wilkesboro, NC; granddaughters, Amy Marshall of Mooresville, NC; Lisa Hughes of Fayetteville, NC and Jody Godwin of Sanford, NC; 5 great grandchildren and brother Herbert Smith of Martinsville, VA. The family will receive friends Thursday, March 11, 2004 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, NC and other times at the home of her daughter, Evelyn Fagg, 1216 Westover Terrace, Asheboro. The funeral will be held on Friday, March 12, 2004 at 1:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, Asheboro with Rev. Garland Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro. Memorials may be made to Seagrove United Methodist Church, 225 W. Main St., Seagrove, NC 27341.
