J. Lloyd Upton

John Lloyd Upton, age 82 of 336 Hancock Rd. Seagrove, NC, died Saturday, September 8, 2007 in the Randolph Hospital, Asheboro, NC. Mr. Upton was a native of Moore County and retired from Acme-McCrary Hosiery Mill after 47 years of service. He attended Bethel Church of God and enjoyed working in his garden. Mr. Upton was preceded in death by his son, David Lee Upton and his sister, Rocity Bodsford. Survived by his wife: Dorothy McNeill Upton; daughter and son-in-law: Wanda Upton Byerly and Boyd Byerly of Seagrove, NC; grand-daughters: Tiffany Byerly and Danielle Byerly; sisters: Nora Mabe of Biscoe, NC, Myrtle Mabe of Star, NC, Dorothy Snow of Elizabeth City, NC, Eva Auman and Mabel Maness both of Seagrove, NC; brother: Farrell Upton of Seagrove, NC. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at 2:00 pm at Bethel Church of God, Seagrove, NC with Rev. Bruce Harry and Rev. J.C. Southern officiating. Burial will follow at Union Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Seagrove, NC. The family will receive friends Monday, September 10, 2007 from 6 - 8 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro and at other times at the home of his daughter, Wanda Byerly, 275 Hancock Rd., Seagrove.
