Fred Martin Mackie, age 55, of 369 Kimberly Dr., Asheboro died Saturday, October 27, 2007 at his home. Mr. Mackie was born May 9, 1952 in Yadkinville, NC the son of Grady Martin Mackie and Lestine Lawrence Mackie. He was a member for 20 years of Oakhurst Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He taught Distributive Education at Asheboro High School, but since 1979 he was self employed as an insurance salesman. A member of Asheboro Masonic Lodge #699, member of the Scottish Rite and Oasis Shrine, he was also a Past President of the Asheboro Civitan Club and an Assistant Boy Scout Leader of Troop #527, member of the Arrow Vigil and holder of the Wood Badge. He is survived by his wife: Angela Keith Mackie, one daughter: Leslie Elizabeth Mackie of Charlotte, NC and one son: Daniel Martin Mackie of Charlotte, NC, Parents, Grady & Lestine "Bill" Mackie of Yadkinville, NC, one brother: Andrew L Mackie of Yadkinville, NC, and several nieces & nephews. The memorial service to celebrate his life will be Tuesday, October 28, 2007 at 7:00 PM at Oakhurst Baptist Church, 2225 South Fayetteville Street, Asheboro with Dr. Richard Crider officiating. The family will receive friends immediately after the memorial service at the Church Fellowship Hall.
