David Robert Elliott, age 77, of 330 Marmaduke Circle, Asheboro died Saturday, January 30, 2010 at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home, Asheboro. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at 1:00 PM at First United Methodist Church, 224 North Fayetteville Street, Asheboro with Rev. Michael Holder, Dr. Donald Haynes, and Dr. James W. Ferree officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard. Mr. Elliott was a native of Asheboro, was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, and was a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill. He was a member of First United Methodist Church where he taught the College Sunday School class. He was the former owner/operator of Elliott Office Equipment Company, Inc. David was past president of the Asheboro Rotary Club, was a board member of the Asheboro-Randolph YMCA, the Asheboro/Randolph Chamber of Commerce, RBC Centura and Ducks Unlimited. He was the founder of the Asheboro City Amateur and a founding member of the National Golf Club of Pinehurst. He is survived by; son, Rob Elliott of Asheboro, NC; daughter, Laura Elliott of Asheboro, NC; former wife, Linda A. Elliott of Asheboro, NC; devoted secretary and caregiver, Martha King of Asheboro, NC; and grandchildren, Abrianna, Gracilyn, Alexander, Olivia, and Little David. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 2, 2010 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. Memorials may be made to the Children's Home Society of North Carolina, P.O. Box 14608, 604 Meadow Street, Greensboro, NC 27415.
