Alfred Joe Summers, age 88, of 1522 Sunset Drive Ext., Asheboro died Saturday, June 5, 2010 at Randolph Hospital, Asheboro. Mr. Summers was born January 16, 1922 the son of Mittie and Blanche Craven Summers The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 8, 2010 from 12:30 - 1:30 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC and other times at the home. Mr. Summers will lie in state Monday, June 7, 2010 from 2:30 until 5:30 PM at the funeral home. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2:00 at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro with Rev. Adrian Pugh officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro. Mr. Summers was a native of Thomasville and a WWII Army veteran. He was a member of Fayetteville Street Baptist Church and was retired from the City of Asheboro Water Department with more than 30 years of service. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his three brothers. He is survived by his wife: Ann Staley Summers and several nieces and nephews.
