Max Newton Wicker, age 90, of 1976 WOW Road, Randleman, formerly of 1580 Henley Country Road, Randleman went to be with his Lord Sunday, September 5, 2010 at Randolph Hospital, Asheboro. Mr. Wicker was born May 24, 1920 in Randolph County, NC, the son of Mahlon and Flossie Brothers Wicker. Mr. Wicker was a native of Randolph County and retired from Klopman/Burlington Industries. He was a member of Bailey's Grove Baptist Church, a veteran of the US Army serving in WWII and lifetime farmer. He was preceded in the death by his first wife, Gladys Marie Stalker. He is survived by his wife: Golda L. Wicker, one son: Lester M. Wicker of Randleman, NC, two daughters: Esther Marie Lewallen of Flint Hill, NC and Valerie Reynolds of Randleman, NC, four sisters: Nancy W. Strider of Cedar Falls, NC, Doris W. Cane of Randleman, NC, Margaret Anderson of Randleman, NC and Irene Hunt of Asheboro, NC, two brothers: William "Bill" M. Wicker of Randleman, NC and Lewis "Pinto" L. Wicker of Randleman, NC, 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 7, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC and other times at his home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at 10:00 AM at Bailey's Grove Baptist Church, 105 East Beasley St., Asheboro with Pastor Jonathan Shook officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park with military honors provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
